The Janome J3-24 is a portable lightweight sewing machine with a front loading bobbin case and easily converts to free arm by removing the detachable storage box. For maximum protection against knocks it comes with a hard cover, normally an optional extra.
We found it easy to thread of course the built in needle threader helps.! To operate this 3 dial machine has fully adjustable length and width settings which makes for quickly setting up to do applique sewing. Sew an automatically sized automatic buttonhole in one simple step, straight stitch, variable zig zag stitch or one of the other stitches using the stitch selector and choose the most appropriate stitch length and width. There are also 12 stretch stitches to choose which will help sewing awkward knitted and jersey type materials.
Threading is no longer a dreaded chore because the easy to follow numbered thread path gets you down to the needle where the built in needle threader gets the job done in seconds.
The convenient free arm allows easy access to difficult areas and is ideal for sewing sleeves and trouser legs, with accessory storage in the sleeve arm.
The extra height foot lifter increases the height of the foot and allows for extra bulky fabrics. There is not a problem when needing to sew heavy fabrics as well as the finest satin, this machine will handle both in its stride.
This compact sewing machine is a feature packed machine not only makes an ideal starter machine because it is so easy to use but would also suit the more serious seamstress or home maker because it has many time saving features.
The Janome J3-24 has 2 handy pull up/push down spool pins for ease of use and safe storage. And because there are 2, you can really be creative using twin needles. All this plus clip on feet, a reverse stitch lever, a one-hand thread cutter and drop feed facility for free hand embroidery, make it a winner for any sewing enthusiast.

Canterbury,Kent Review by Ellen
I bought this for classes as my 7700 Horizon was too heavy and delicate to be moved every month. I think is is a great little machine, ideal for a beginner and well priced. Quilting is easy as the 1/4 inch foot from the 7700 fits this machine - you need to move the needle slightly to avoid it hitting the metal foot - just turn the width dial and it's done - no problem. Only thing missing is that there isn't an extending table and you can't buy one separately (looks like I need to get DH on to making me one in his workshop). A very good buy. (Posted on May 29, 2013)

Been testing my machine out. Great all rounder. This was bought as an upgrade for my old model (another brand). I would recommend Janome to anybody who wants to buy a machine from beginner to experience. (Posted on March 25, 2013)

Excellent sewing machine does all that it says it does. My only issue is you cannot leave the cotton on when using the case/cover. (Posted on October 10, 2011)

Lovely machine, easy to use can't fault the machine or the service from Sewing Machine Sales. Little bit put out as down in price by £20 few days after I purchased but that's the way it goes. (Posted on September 7, 2011)

(STAFF - yes it will, no problem using the correct foot) (Posted on March 13, 2010)
