Introducing the all new Renaissance computerised sewing machine with Oekaki function form Toyota. We all know exactly what the Japanese word Oekaki means don’t we! Yes, your correct in your thinking. It means "to draw". Which is exactly what is possible with this new Toyota sewing machine, but we will be using thread instead of a pencil.
What we didn’t realise is that as well as being a unique free-motion embroidery machine, it is a fantastic high end regular sewing machine as well. Let me explain!
It has 50 stitches to choose from, ranging from decorative satin block stitches, realistic hand quilt stitch, tacking, stretch, blind hemming, over-edging, ric-rac and stretch straight stitch. Buttonholes are simple, the buttonhole foot automatically measures the button and sews the correct size buttonhole, even complex keyhole buttonholes are sewn automatically. Each stitch program can be selected easy on the LCD screen with the help of the quick adviser. The quick adviser is also a reference when needing then wind the bobbin or even thread the machine.
Oekaki electronic features like needle up/down, reverse tie off, button start/stop and maximum sewing speed can all be set as required. LED lights, illuminate the needle area and sewing bed. The sewing bed is larger and round in shape, it gives a better support of the materials when sewing Oekaki or regular stitching. Accessories can also be stored in the removable sewing bed.
The foot speed controller gives a slow steady stitch when needed and with it being electronic, each stitch uses the full power of the motor even at the slowest speeds. Toyota are know for the Super Jeans function and this Oekaki Renaissance is no exception, clip-on the Jeans foot and glide over up-to 12 layers of denim.
But the top feature of this Toyota Renaissance sewing machine is the unique Oekaki function. It’s not complex, you just push the Oekaki button and set the speed via the control panel and pop the embroidery foot in place. It takes a little practice at first to master the Oekaki mode, but it’s not rocket science. As soon as the foot control is pressed the machine will start stitching, using both hands move the material under the embroidery foot while the machine is stitching. By pressing down on the foot control the needle sew a narrow satin stitch, pressing down on the foot control a little further and the Oekaki Renaissance will sew a wider stitch width, and so on. You control the embroidery stitch width by applying pressure on the foot control. It is a unique way to create custom free-motion embroidery. Plus it looks tremendous in Ferrari Red!

Somerset Review by Dragonqueen
I received this machine today and am over the moon with it. It is quiet and stitches extremely well. There are a good selection of utility and decorative stitches for all my sewing needs. I primarily bought this machine for the Oekaki mode and the Superjeans gliding foot as I often work with heavy fabrics and am forever turning up trousers and jeans for my partner! The machine was delivered on time and I have been very impressed with the service that I have received from this company. When placing my order and asking for advice all of the staff that I have dealt with have been extremely helpful, kind and courteous throughout. Thank you to everyone at Sewing Machine Sales. Kent Review by Spangle
Wow this machine is good. Yes the casing does feel a bit cheap but the actual machine is excellent, I love the start stop facility and the ability to change the speed, stitch length. Even on the slowest speed the motor still provides a steady stitch. I am a useless sewer, my stitch lines are never straight but with this machine on the lowest speed and the start stop button means I have been able to complete lots of projects and even amazed myself.
The threading of the machine is quick and easy, I am yet to use the Oekaki feature but that is just because I haven't had time. (Posted on March 22, 2015)
