- Singer 2263 Sewing Machine
The styling is the same as other machines in this range but this 2263 offers a little bit more. It has 23 stitches including button holes which has 4 steps, 5 stretch for the hard to sew lycra or jersey materials, which are known to be difficult to work with, not so when using the 2263.
It's the kind of machine you don't often need to refer to the instruction book. Each stitch can be viewed on the stitch dial, making for simple dial-a-stitch sewing. Length and width can be adjusted to set the machine to applique, making it possible for even novices to enjoy creative sewing.
As with other Singer tradition sewing machines, the bobbin is loaded from the front, a system which has been used for many years. For threading it is as simple as following the arrows and use the built-in automatic needle threader to help with that awkward task of fiddling around to find the needle eye.
Even when sewing at slow speeds, the electronic foot control helps maintain a steady speed and stops the machine running on. When inserting zips or topstitching, the adjustable needle position helps for perfect parallel sewn lines to the seam edge and a quick push of the conveniently placed reverse lever, neatens start /end of the seam.
The alloy internal body for reliability, a built-in light providing light just when you need it, directly above the presser foot, which incidentally is the quick clip-on type.
A slide-off extension table for free-arm sewing, also has an accessory storage compartment. The accessories included are the general purpose zig-zag foot, small and large thread spool caps, four-step sliding button hole foot, zipper foot, button sewing on foot, seam ripper, lint brush, fabric guide, spare needles and extra bobbins and a feed cover plate for when you want to get creative with free-motion embroidery.
Still unsure which of the Singer tradition group to purchase..? we can help with advice or to answer any questions.

Bolton Review by chatterfingers
I have searched the internet shops and ebay for a sewing machine that would be suitable not having sewn anything since being at secondary school a very long time ago!!. I researched and found this model on you tube being displayed and showing how to use it and it looked simple enough and so I bought one. It is every bit as easy as it said. I have wound the bobbin, attached the spool and tried all the stitches and it is perfect, got a free gift as well scissors cottons and the unpicker is brilliant I love it, thanks (Posted on 5/15/2013)

Liverpool Review by kirstie
Im a novice sewing machine-user but found the SInger instruction manual easy to understand and was soon trying out the wide range of stiches available on the 2263 model. I practised on fabric offcuts to get the feel of the machine but was soon doing alterations on some trousers and feeling confident that I could carry out most simple sewing tasks on my new machine.
The 2263 is remarkably light-weight and does an imprssive range of things for a relatively low-priced machine. (Posted on 1/17/2009)
London Review by Isabel
I bought my Singer 2263 some time ago and Im pretty happy with it. It gets a lot of use, about three days a week. Ive only had two problems with it.
One of the the two top bobbins (the spool holders on top of the machine) has broken off, so I have to use the front one, which isnt that big a deal but its kind of annoying if I ever wanted to use a double needle.
My other complaint is that it seems like the thread breaks a lot when Im sewing, and I have to rethread the machine several times during sewing.
Ive not had this problem before so I dont think its me.
All in all though, for the price it is an excellent machine and I would recommend it to anyone, especially young fashion students looking for a bargain. (Posted on 10/2/2008)
