What is a feed dog... a feed dog are the teeth which stick up through the needle plate and move the fabric forward or backwards depending on the machine settings, if you find the fabric is slipping as you stitch may be the feed dog teeth are warn smooth or have lost the ability to grip the fabric. Replacing the feed dog will help the machine feed the fabric correctly.
