I am interested in embroidery, but i'm confused. Which Bernina model should I buy?

A key selling point is their user-friendly, high-quality engineering that produces consistent, quiet, and reliable stitching. However, there is a little confusion relating to which models can embroider, while others can not?

Owning a BERNINA is at the top of many sewers' wish lists, and for good reason. It's not just about the machine; it's about the experience of achieving hassle-free precision stitching that you can enjoy for years to come.

We will try to guide you thought the options available when thinking about which Bernina sewing machine to purchase.

Let's start with a simple question - Are you looking for a sewing machine that can be used for embroidery?

  • The B 700e & B 500e are both dedicated embroidery only models and include an embroidery module.

  • Embroidery and sewing models are 990, 790e PRO and 590e all include the embroidery module and can sew embroidery designs in a hoop.

  • The 790 PRO and 590 (note the "e" is missing from the model number) are embroidery enabled but do not include an embroidery module.

  • An embroidery module can be purchased as an option at any stage and will work with these models: 770 QE PRO, 770 QE PLUS, 735 PRO, 735, 570 QE and the 540. They are embroidery enabled.

  • The embroidery area is determined by the bed size of the machine, hence the longer bed size of the 7-series can embroidery larger designs than the 5-series.

Where can I buy an embroidery module to work with my Bernina?

  • Remember, not all Bernina sewing machines would work in harmonie with an embroidery module - just models that are embroidery enabled.

  • Embroidery module (SDT) "M" - for 5-series models.

  • Embroidery Module (STD) "L" - for 7-series models.

  • Embroidery module (SDT) "XL" - for 900-Series.

What is the difference between the two embroidery modules/units?
