At the heart of the machine is a sturdy flat bed construction with a die-cast aluminium frame, engineered for stability and long lasting durability. The main shaft incorporates eight enclosed ball bearings, helping the machine run smoothly and quietly even at high sewing speeds.

With sewing speeds of up to 1,650 stitches per minute, the Janome HD9 QC delivers impressive efficiency when sewing long seams and larger projects. The speed control slider allows you to adjust the maximum sewing speed to suit the task, giving you greater control when working on detailed or delicate projects.

The generous 229 mm (9") wide by 150 mm (5.9") high workspace provides plenty of room to manoeuvre quilts, bulky fabrics and larger sewing projects. The machine also features a heavy weight thread guide and large thread spool holders, making it well suited to heavier threads and demanding sewing applications.

The innovative Floating Function allows the presser foot to be raised between 0 and 3 mm while maintaining control over the fabric. This creates additional clearance when sewing over bulky seams, multiple layers and speciality fabrics, helping to reduce layer slippage, fabric wrinkles and puckering. The adjustable foot pressure can also be finely tuned to suit different fabrics, providing greater control when switching between lightweight materials and thicker or more challenging textiles.

What are the main differences between the HD9 and HD9 QC?

• Stitches Per Minute - The HD9 can sew at a great speed of 1600 smp, but the HD9 QC can sew up to 1650 spm. A higher sewing speed has its benefits such as; improving efficiency, produces smoother, more consistent long seams and maintain the momentum needed to sew through multiple heavy layers of fabric without stalling.
• Floating Function -The Floating Function lets you slightly raise the presser foot while you sew. This gives thick or bulky layers a little more room to move underneath the foot, so they can pass through more smoothly without getting caught, dragged or creating puckers. You can adjust the height by up to 3 mm, depending on how thick the fabric is.
• Built-in drop Feed Mechanism - The HD9 QC features a built in drop-feed mechanism operated by a simple lever, allowing the feed dogs to be lowered instantly for free motion sewing. In contrast, older HD9 models did not have a built in drop feed and required a separate darning plate to be fitted over the feed dogs to prevent fabric movement.
• Openable Face Cover - The hinged face cover on the Janome HD9 QC provides easy access to the machine’s internal mechanisms around the needle bar, making routine cleaning and oiling quick and straightforward without the need for tools or removing the machine’s casing.
