Because of its unusual shape its a clear indication that it only fit a few of the Brother innov-is sewing machine range (as listed below). This is the plastic cover that fits over the spool / bobbin case. It clips into place and stops the bobbin from jumping out of position. Because it can be easily lost, maybe its best to have a spare in your sewing box..!
