As you can see from our image, this straight-stitch foot has a slot at the rear. This slot if to allow using the top feed of selected Bernette models, hence giving the user the capability to feed the fabric from the bottom and top.
Quilt makers love this foot because of it's wide pressing area and flat base which helps stabilize the fabric. The small round needle hole helps prevent fabric puckering.
It is mainly used for straight stitches and a very wide variety of fabric types anything from organza to denim and quilt making.
Note: when stitching awkward to sew fabrics, specialist feet like this one are always recommended.
