This presser foot is perfect for sewing on buttons that are slightly raised up off the fabric, to give a slight thread shank to enable easier buttoning. This also helps prevent the button from being sewn too tightly to the fabric.
The diagrams on the back of the packaging shows how the placement tool works and how to use the little adjustment tab on the foot.
