The hem foot, also known as the rolled hemmer, is used to stitch narrow hems on a variety of fabrics. We always need to sew a hem using a sewing machine at some point...and this is the perfect foot for it!
The rolled hem foot is designed with a scroll-shaped feeder on top and a straight groove on the underside which controls the width of the finished hem.
The foot will sew a narrow hem, called a rolled hem. The reason being, is the fabric is rolled over twice forming a tube. The foot guides the tube and the sewing machine sews the tube together to form a perfectly rolled hem.
Two sizes are available depending on the size of the narrow hem needed. The 6mm rolled hem foot is for heavier materials and the narrower 4mm version for lighter weight fabric. However, both sew a very neat job on your Janome sewing machine.

For 4mm wide rolled hems.
