We use this foot ofter when sewing multiple fabric layers while quilting. It can also be used to help sew flat seams on difficult to stitch materials like leather, cotton lawn, knit, vinyl, satin and silk.
When this foot is in place on the machine it uses the up/down movement of the machine needle to rise and lower the built in feed teeth. These move in conjunction with the regular sewing machine feed teeth which help fabrics feed more smoothly through the sewing machine. Hence its name "even feed" foot.
