Another very popular needle, this one is suitable for patchwork and quilting. Although you probably can't see it with the naked eye, this needle has a slightly more tapered and longer point than the universal needle. It is designed to pierce through multiple layers of fabrics, which usually are 100% cotton, but often padding/wadding is synthetic. Hence the correct needle is very important. And as one would expect Schmetz have created the correct one.
