This assorted packet of 10 universal standard point sewing machine needles, containing all sizes - Size 70/9 x 2 needles, 80/11 x 2 needles, 90/14 x 4 needles, 100/16 x 2 needles.

The universal needle has a sharp but slightly rounded point and is made to fit all makes of sewing machine, even many older models such as Jones or Newhome.

With a standard size point and a regular type fitting, the shank of the needle is flat on one side and rounded on the other. These needles can be easily fitted into the needle clamp - dont forget, flat side facing the back when inserting the needle!

Your fine needle, size 70/9 is ideal for light weight fabrics such as chiffon, viole and silk.

Your light to medium weight needle, size 80/11 is great for light weight shirt fabric, fine cottons and velvet.

The medium weight needle, size 90/14 is usually the most popular size, as the fabrics most suited to this needle include cotton, polycotton, linen, light to medium weight suiting, fleece and vinyl.

Lastly, the heaviest needle in the pack, size 100/16 is strong enough to sew denim, heaving suiting, brocades and upholstery fabrics.

Using the wrong size needle...too heavy a needle will cause large puncture marks in a fine fabric; too fine a needle could bend and snap when stitching through thicker, heavier fabrics
