Bernina 990 Embroidery/Sewing Machine

The Bernina 990 is both a sewing and embroidery machine and is built for makers who demand space, precision, and versatility all in one powerhouse machine. It offers 14 inches of workspace to the right of the needle, giving quilters and embroiderers room to manoeuvre large quilts or fabric panels with ease. The 10.1-inch colour touch screen serves as a command centre with intuitive navigation, built-in Help Center and tutorials, and gesture control. For embroidery, the machine includes a giant hoop with an expansive 16.1″ × 12″ embroidery field and an ergonomic twist-lock Giant Hoop for precise alignment and easier hooping without constant repositioning. It also comes with the Bernina Placement Scanner & Camera, allowing live preview of hooped fabric so you can see exactly where your design will stitch, reducing guesswork.

When it comes to sewing and stitch design, the B 990 delivers in spades. It boasts 2,927 built-in stitch patterns, including decorative, quilting, monogram/alphabet options, utility stitches, buttonholes, etc., with the ability to resize stitches between 25% and 500% using the Jumbo Stitch feature. The Stitch Designer lets you draw custom stitches directly on the screen; mirror-image, repeat, distort, taper, skyline and sideways motion functions enhance decorative flexibility. The machine also includes Bernina’s next-generation stitchprecision2 technology, adaptive thread tension, and dual feed for even feeding of challenging fabrics. Other convenience and precision features include automatic needle threader, automatic presser foot lift, adjustable presser foot pressure, LED lighting (90 LEDs), needle up/down commands, and upper and lower thread sensors—so you can focus on creating instead of constantly adjusting.

Quilting and embroidery get extra power with advanced control features on the B 990. It introduces the Bernina Integrated Stitch Regulator (BISR)—a built-in stitch length regulator you can now use even with ruler quilting, ensuring perfectly even stitches at varying speeds. Customisable quilt designs (.bqm files) are built in (200+ designs), with unlimited scaling, stitch-density control (stitches per inch), ability to edit start/stop points, morph designs with 2- or 4-point placement and centre or reposition designs virtually. For embroidery projects, features like Endless Embroidery (for long borders beyond the hoop), automatic hoop recognition, position recall, sequence control, and compatibility with WiFi and the Bernina Stitchout App let you work smarter. Altogether, the Bernina 990 is engineered to elevate sewing, quilting, and embroidery into a seamless, powerful creative experience.
