Video - How to sew Applique using the see-through foot

The video shows the applique foot in action. Use this plastic, see-through foot to give you a clear view of the needle and stitching as you applique the edge of the fabric design.

Use it to attach fabric shapes to a background fabric using your sewing machine. Secure the edges with straight or decorative stitches. This method is quicker than hand applique and many more options are available using built-in decorative sewing machine stitches.

For best applique sewing results, follow these steps:

  1. Disengage the IDT if your machine has this option.
  2. Use a regular size needle: 14/90 to pierce the multiple layers of material.
  3. Stitch directly along the edge of the fabric, use the fabric edge as a guide in the centre of the foot.
  4. Set the machine to sew a satin stitch and practice sew a sample first.
  5. Other stitches can be uses: The blanket stitch always looks impressive when appliquéing designs.
