Video - How to use the Pfaff Twin Welting Piping Foot
Step-by-Step Guide to Using the Twin Welting (Double Piping) Foot
Elevate your upholstery and decorative sewing projects with flawless, professional twin welting. This foot streamlines the process for crisp, consistent double piping every time.
1. Prepare Your Bias Strips
Cut bias strips long enough to cover both cords and wide enough to wrap around them with added seam allowance.
2. Position the Cords
Lay the cords side-by-side on the wrong side of the bias strip. Wrap the fabric around both cords to create a neat cover.
3. Load the Presser Foot
Place the wrapped cords and fabric under the presser foot, with the right cord under the left groove and raw edges facing right.
4. Set Your Machine
- Stitch type: Straight
- Needle position: Center
- Stitch length: 3
- Tension: 3–5
5. Begin Sewing
Stitch along the fold, keeping the cords snug against the fabric edge for a clean line.
6. Insert Into Seam
Sandwich the covered piping between your project fabrics and sew the seam.
7. Trim & Press
Trim the excess fabric close to the seam and press seam allowance to the left for a smooth finish.
8. Final Stitching
Place the cord under both grooves of the foot and sew directly between the two cords to lock everything in place.
