Video - Using the 5 Grove Pintuck foot

Pintucking is a decorative sewing technique that forms narrow, raised ridges on fabric. Created by folding and stitching tiny pleats, pintucks add texture and visual interest. They are smaller and more delicate than standard tucks, typically measuring 1/8 inch wide or less.

To create pintucks, a sewing machine stitches narrow, folded pleats into fabric, forming raised ridges. This decorative technique adds subtle texture and visual detail

Using the 5-grove pintuck foot

  • It is important to use the correct needle size when using this foot:  Insert twin needle (e.g. 130/705 or 15x1).
  • 5-Groove Pintuck Foot - 2.0 - 3.0mm twin needle.
    7-Groove Pintuck Foot - 1.5 - 2.0mm twin needle.
    9-Groove Pintuck Foot - 1.5 - 2.0mm twin needle.
  • Thread the twin needle with two spools of thread - see your user manual for threading instructions when using a twin needle.
  • Draw a placement line for the first pintuck with water-soluble marker.
  • Sew your first pintuck. When starting second pintuck, allow first pintuck to run parallel in a groove in foot. This produces evenly spaced pintucks.
