Video - Using the Pfaff Stitch In The Ditch 1/4inch Quilting Foot

Take your quilting, patchwork, and lacework to the next level with this upgraded presser foot, now enhanced with 1/4-inch guides for effortless precision.

Whether you're crafting heirloom-quality quilts or delicate decorative seams, this foot makes it all look easy.

Straight Stitch Setup:

Set your machine to a straight stitch (Stitch: 1) with a length of 2.5 and tension between 3–5. Adjust needle position as needed for your desired stitching line.

Narrow Edge Topstitching:

Align the centre guide with the fabric edge, then shift the needle to the left and topstitch for clean, professional results.

Quilting in the Ditch:

Nestle the blade of the foot into the ditch between fabric joins and fine-tune needle position for exact spacing. This technique delivers seamless, nearly invisible quilting lines.

Lace & Edge Joining:

Slide lace or finished fabric edges on either side of the blade and secure with zigzag or decorative stitches. Ideal for precision joining without bulk.

Sewing Lace to Fabric:

Align the folded edge of the fabric to the left of the centre guide and the finished edge of the lace to the right. The guide maintains perfect separation while stitching.

Use Zigzag Stitch No. 3 (Stitch length: 1–3.0, Stitch width: 1.5–3.5, Tension: 3–5) to catch the edges with finesse. Adjust width and length to suit your materials.
