BERNINA 335 Sewing Machine (Gen 2)

Ever dreamed of owning a BERNINA sewing machine? The B 335 is the top model in the new 3-series line-up and uses Swiss engineering to produce lovely stitches in a user-friendly, pleasurable way.

It is a fully computerised model with a colour screen and the Bernina legendary and original CB hook system offering a controllable top sewing speed of 900 stitches-per-minute when needed. Every stitch is preprogrammed and ready to use as soon as it is chosen, yet, they are individually adjustable. A built-in memory to save stitches or lettering to your personal folder. In fact, it has two memory settings, one short-term and a long-term memory of 256MB, enough to store pattern sequences or lettering combinations to sew words, names and slogans. 

We love using the Bernina B 335 sewing machine, which is the latest (gen 2) model. It is simple to set up and select your desired stitch, many of the most used functions are at hand and not buried deep in the screen's firmware, eg. needle position, stitch width and length are quickly available, as is the needle up/down button, and maximum sewing speed setting, start/stop button and more.

When you are ready to sew buttonholes? The screen size ratio is 1:1, meaning, buttons can be sized against the buttonhole icon on screen, simply adjust the button icon on screen to match your chosen button size, pop the included #3A zipper foot in place and each buttonhole will be sewn to the correct size.

Option to use BERNINA Free Hand System (FHS) which can give hands-free sewing with the knee lift, to simultaneously raise/lower the presser foot and feed dog, leaving both hands free. Recommended for enthusiastic free-motion quilt makers.

The (B 335) differs from its 3-series sibling (B 325)

The B335 offers extra stitches, extra presser feet, the FHS, to raise and lower the presser foot and lower the feed dog at the same time, via the knee lifter. The knee lifter arm is an optional extra.  It also includes the automatic buttonhole foot with sliding base.

Comparison between old (pre-2024) 335 vs (new for 2025) B 335 Gen 2 

On first look they are quite different, the most notable upgrade is the colour touch screen and the machine body has a more rounded appearance, brighter LED lit sewing bed, each selected stitch can be viewed in real size on screen, which is a huge advantage over the old version only showing a number! 

Once set the maximum speed control lever limits the speed when sewing with both the foot control and the start/stop button, this was not the case on the old version. The foot pedal has been improved for very precise slow speed stitching.

Foot adjustment pressure and secure tie-off button is now added, because the screen has so much more technology, all the buttons on the older 335 front panel are no longer needed and removed to give a far cleaner and modern appearance.

A host of firmware advancements, twin needle selection 2.0-4.0 mm and automatic stitch width adjustment for that particular twin point needle. Saving and selecting stitches are now stored in a folder, which is more like what we are used to doing on our smart phones or laptops. We now have tutorials, help button and creative consultant, none of which were available on the old machine.
