This machine has the full Singer tradition of reliability and is very affordable. The Singer 2259 is a basic sewing machine but has 19 stitches to cover repairing clothes or trying your hand at home decor. Whilst threading you follow the arrows, which eventually end up at the needle. The thread is wound on to the bobbin which will automatically stop when there is enough thread and the bobbin is inserted from the front via a spool case type mechanism.
As well as basic straight stitch and zigzag, this machine also button holes in 4 steps by turning the stitch selection dial using the included button hole foot. The stitch dial also selects other sewing functions, a range of stretch stitches and allows stitch width adjustment. Above this dial is the stitch length adjustment.
After using the Singer 2259, I find the automatic needle threader very useful and notice when removing the slide off bed to reveal the sleeve arm, you will find the accessories compartment, which contains a zip foot, feed cover plate, buttonhole foot, general purpose foot, button sewing foot, needles, bobbins, buttonhole opener, lint brush, seam guide, screwdriver, large and small spool cap. The soft dust cover keeps the machine safe.
