Cleaning the heating plate?

My steam press silver plate has become dirty and has a logo on it from a t-shirt I previously ironed!

Cleaning the heating plate.

As with a normal iron DO NOT press directly onto printed t-shirts or you'll find your t-shirt motif or transfer will be stuck to your presser plate! Maybe, you have been pressing at too high a temperature, or holding the jaws down for too long a time and it has melted the clothing to the heating plate!

Either way the heating plate will become marked over time, but don't panic. We recommend using an iron cleaner stick. They really do work well if you follow the instructions on the packet.

The small stick type Iron cleaners are wonderful for cleaning the large ironing plate of a steam press. If it is starting to have burn marks and looking cruddy. As you push the cleaning stick on to the hot ironing plate the iron stich will melt. Once melted rub it off with a clean cloth. Only do one section at a time. The press should be switch on and set to about 60-80 degrees, so take care not to burn your fingers.
