Which is best? Will it sew thick fabric?

Sales and Customer Service were excellent - special mention for Duke who couldn't have been more courteous and helpful. Still getting used to the machine which so far has exceeded my expectations. Not to mention the price which was the most competitive one I found. Would not hesitate to recommend SMSales to anyone wanting professional advice, a good deal and fast delivery.

I bought this sewing machine to replace an ancient one of twenty years. It was definitely worth it. It has to be the easiest machine I have ever threaded up. It was up and running in ten minutes. The instructions were simple to use, and easy to understand. Although it needed an oil before I used it the first time, as it was a bit stiff and clunky, it was easy to follow the instructions on what to do. I would definatelyn recommend this machine to anyone, even if you've not used a machine before.

This is the first domestic professional machine I have ever owned. I have had it for approximately 1 month now and I am constantly itching to get on it!. It is a lovely machine to use, it feels solid and I have yet to had 1 problem with it. I am a 3rd year BA Fashion student and I use it for dressmaking and finishing. Great features include: The over edge finishing stitches included on this machine which act like an overlocker. The twin needle capability is fantastic on this machine! Very good finish on jersey fabrics. The knee lift and feet supplied with the machine work for all stitch combinations and the instruction manual is very easy to use and flick through. The thread cutter, needle threader and drop needle functions are brilliant time savers especially at 3am the night before a deadline! The choice of button holes available is wonderful and easy to use. I have not used the full range of quilting accessories or stitches yet, as this is not my area of expertise. However, the machine's monograming embroidery is a great tool to make labels for clothing or add details. I can't find a fault with this machine- it is definitely worth the investment and I would recommend to all. One piece of advise- keep the instruction manual close to help with fast change overs with settings and to get to know your machine quickly.

This machine was a present for my sister so she is writing the review as I would not know one end of a machine from the other! This machine is excellent, I have not had much time to play but I think I have tried each and every feature out once that it has. The embroidery is exceptional although the built in library is a little small and hard to determine whether it is in cross stitch or satin stitch, quality of either is fab. No foot operation is immediately responsive and brilliant not a feature I have used before. The manual is a god send of a bible and covers every aspect you could possibly want it to. My only point of confusion has been as to the different bobbin cases and when to use them but I have been assured Gutermann thread will only need the standard bobbin case. All in all a fab machine and worth the departure from my 30 year old Bernina and quality of stitch is equal if not better than the Bernina. The huge plus point for me also is that although the machine is robust and stable it is considerably lighter than my Bernina was.

I took the upgrade to the 6160 and haven't regretted it. I haven't used a sewing machine for a few years but this is easy to use. I am very pleased with it.

I had to order a replacement machine at very short notice. Cannot fault speed of delivery, received within 2 days. Brilliant. Nice simple machine to use. I mainly require a machine for repairs and occasionally I make curtains and blinds. Agree with other comments that its a nice straightforward machine to operate. Also, it being a lightweight machine does not detract from its capability and as also said before, deals with thicker fabrics very well. Early days, but so far , a very good machine and for an excellent price.
