Having had the same sewing machine for 40 years, I decided it was time to treat myself to a sewing machine that opens up wider opportunities to do so much more than I can with my old one. Research pinned it down to the Silver 197 and I am excited about creating button holes that actually meet up on both sides!! and quilting without having to constantly measure. Very good service from Sewing Machine Sales. Would certainly recommend both.

What is not to love about this magnificent machine. I am especially going to love the fact that the jump stitches in embroidery works are cut away--the most tedious of tasks facing anyone working on older machines. I love all the cutting-edge options of things it can do like crochet--would you have ever thought you could crochet on an embroidery machine? There is a cutwork program, too--it actually takes out all those little intricate pieces as it sews! All we are left to do, once the piece is completed, is snip a thread here and there--Hooray! It also does quilting, stippling, and many other tasks that were once left up to the creator of the project to complete by hand. All that and more, saying nothing of all the wonderful tasks it accomplishes on the non-embroidery side--one-step "automatic" buttonholes, even-feed option for perfect seams, and special care for bulky sewing projects, along with a myriad of options for embroidery without the embroidery attachment! It seems to be everything to everybody--the machine for which we have been looking for a long, long time!

The ordering process was straightforward, and I received an email to let me know the 1 hour window in which my sewing machine would be delivered, and it came within that time. I have not used it extensively yet. It was reasonably easy to wind the bobbin and thread the machine, and I have tried most of the stitches. The machine itself feels and sounds great. It is light enough to carry but does not slide about when sewing. It looks great as well. I am pleased with my purchase, and look forward to getting back into sewing.

Nice quiet machine, runs very smoothly. Compact size and light weight makes it ideal for taking to sewing group, and the wide variety of stitches makes it very useful multi-purpose tool.

After 23 years using the same machine I wanted an upgrade, I tried a Singer Brilliance 6199 and it was good (very good), I went for the One+ it is even better!. Best 50th birthday treat ever. Ordered it on Saturday by phone it arrived on Tuesday early afternoon, 2 mins into the delivery hour timeslot - excellent, couldnt ask for better. If you are looking for a sewing machine you cant get better than this unless you want to pay 4 figure prices, even then I'm not sure if it would be better. Many stitches, good feed dogs, very controlled, the needle threader is great, the only problem is that it doesn't go to the shop to buy your material for you.

This machine is brilliant. The variety of stitches is amazing for the price and the features - start/stop button, auto stop button and the needle up/down facilities enhance the user experience. Being able to choose a Saturday delivery (additional £15) was great for me. I cannot wait to get making lots of items for friends and family.
