Some models combine overlock stitches together with a cover hem stitch. These models usually use 5 threads, however, some use even more. In fact up to 8 threads.!

Very pleased with this machine. Easy to use after I had viewed a YouTube tutorial. I found the handbook instructions unclear, but then I always find things easier when someone has demonstrated with audio!
